A TREK TO REMEMBER VI
K.I.D.S. Foundation to Send Medical-Dental Mission to Sierra Bullones, Bohol on Oct. 22-25
On October 22-25, 2010, the Kabataang Inyong Dapat Suportahan (K.I.D.S) Foundation, Inc. will send a medical-dental mission to Sierra Bullones Bohol. Efforts of the program will serve the Eskaya tribe and locals of other neighboring communities.
The Sierra Bullones trail is the sixth installment of the K.I.D.S Foundation’s A Trek To Remember. Medical practitioners, K.I.D.S members and volunteers, trekkers and friends are invited to fly to Bohol via Zest Air, Cebu Pacific Air, or PAL Express by the morning of October 22 to meet up with the K.I.D.S. team.
Registration fee, distribution of registration forms, waivers, the itinerary of the trek and the pre-trek orientation will be announced by the foundation on or before the first week of September. Final details of the trek will be posted in the K.I.D.S Foundation yahoogroups, as well as in the organization’s website.
The K.I.D.S Foundation, Inc. is the beneficiary of Team Manila, one of the pioneer retail partners of the iamninoy-iamcory movement. K.I.D.S is a family of committed volunteers who share a common passion to establish a nurturing environment, helping children from all walks of life enjoy their rights and experience growth and development through God-centered activities that promote fun and enjoyment.
“A Trek to Remember,” explained Ms. Roxanne Quendo, K.I.D.S Foundation, Inc. Programs Manager, “is one of the more popular (and most awaited by members and volunteers) programs of K.I.D.S.” At least once a year, the organization brings medical missions, school supplies, books, and rain gears to chosen remote highlands in the country. Composed of adventurous young (and young-at-heart) professionals and climbing enthusiasts, this group has one thing in common: a passion to share. “Our rewards are newfound friendships, breathtaking scenery, and the high that you feel when you share,” Roxanne said.
The first trek brought the group to Botok, Benguet with Naswak Elementary School as beneficiary. In May 2007, a group of 15 friends went to Barangay Cambulo, Banaue to visit Cambulo Elementary School. A Trek to Remember III brought a team of 96 to the rocky mountains of Kibungan, Benguet to visit two remote barangays; Sagpat & Lubo to distribute school supplies, clothes, books, jackets, rain boots, shoes, bags, and to conduct medical missions and distribute vitamins to around 500 children in the area.
On October 23-25, 2009, A Trek to Remember IV served the poblacion and eight coastal and remote barangays of Baras in Catanduanes with around 1,100 children as beneficiaries. In March of this year A Trek to Remember V brought medicines, doctors and dentists for the medical mission and gift-giving of school supplies in preparation for the opening of the school year with some 700 children of Tala-andig tribes of Miarayon in Bukidnon.
