Karimadon supports Tulong Dunong
Equal access to education remains to be just a dream for all of us. Despite of this, efforts have been made in different parts of the country to make the underprivileged have an access to this right. As such, the non-government organization Tulong Dunong contributes to leveling the playing field for the marginalized sectors of the society.
Tulong Dunong was drawn from the inspirations given by Fr. James O'Brien, S.J., who was a chaplain and teacher of Bicol History / Culture and Public Speaking at the Ateneo de Naga. When he was transferred to Ateneo de Manila University in 1975, he came out with an idea of helping out poor boys whom he played basketball with to be able be able to attend high school.
That was the birth of Tulong Dunong.
Tulong Dunong envisions “to be the light of the Lord in the world” and its mission is to become “men and women for/with others.”
The following are the objectives of the organization:
-
to offer quality education to indigent but deserving students
-
to support the total human development of scholars that will maximize their God-given gifts
-
to create/provide opportunities that will produce active and productive members of society who will contribute to national development
-
to invite partners and affiliates to institutionalize the scholarship program in their communities
